About

Musician Leo Garcia was born in Porto Alegre, Brazil, in 1964, and has been a professional musician since 1986.

He showed interest in music at an early age, listening to the radio and my parents’ record collection at home, and mainly many LPs that were given to him by an uncle who worked for local EMI. Those included pop and rock groups like The Beatles, Pink Floyd, as well as Brazilian and world artists. He started playing guitar at fifteen, and studied  Music Theory and Ear Training at the Porto Alegre Symphony Orchestra’s School of Music, still in his hometown.

From 1989 to 1996 he lived in Portugal, having an intense schedule as instrumentalist and teacher.

Back in Brazil he he started playing piano, graduated in Music Education at UDESC (State University of Santa Catarina) in 2004 and then worked there teaching Music Theory, Harmony and Counterpoint, Music Analysis, Ensemble Playing, Arranging, and Improvisation.

Leo Garcia has toured Italy four times, performing and teaching.
